Now, In 2017 my associates degree, knife set, uniform, books, etc. is costing me a total of approx. $36,650
If you are traveling to the states for school, do not enroll in any program this school has to offer.
My adult son is currently attending Escoffier School of of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas. His schooling is 16 months and covers French, Italian, and Mexican cuizeen. The staff and Chefs are are Knowledgeable, Professional, Respectful and all the while putting the Newbies through a rigorous start! We're in for the long haul. I would have to recommend all aspects and peeps an A+ I can't wait till he cooks for me!
Dealing with the office people is the worst. I loathe having to call or even have to deal with this school anymore. I called to ask a simple question and I was interrupted countless times, completely unprofessional. I recommend going to a different establishment if you wish to actually learn something.
I am writing a review on this establishment because they continue to harass my husband and I. For months we have been receiving phone calls from this so called vocational school, and we at first explained who ever they are trying to reach is not at our number. We nicely have explained they have the wrong number. It has been months, and they continue to call, sometimes even three times a day, asking for someone we do not know and we tell them to please REMOVE our number from their list. Their people have been rude and even say “we have talked to Annie on this number before”. We do not know any Annie’s and if they can speak to us so rudely and unprofessional I can only imagine what they are like with people who are actually interested in going to their school. Please listen to people when they say “stop calling this number.” It is not an invitation to continue to harrass people!
Been at this school since September, they're such a joke. Education is not good. Chef's don't really know what they're doing. Would not recommend this school to anyone, I'm already in the process of transferring out. 0 campus life, teacher for normal classroom subjects don't know what they're doing and barely even teach. Recommend going to CIA, ICE, or Johnson & Wales. It's more money but you'll actually learn something there. Showing students youtube videos in stead of doing actual demos is not a way of learning. False advertisement everywhere for this school. $32,000 is a lot of money for spending my time mainly in a classroom the majority of the program. The farm to table is not even what they explain it to be, they just work you at a farm. Please, don't let your kids go to this school. Biggest mistake of my life, and now I have a debt to pay since i'm transferring; but better that than to waste my time here.
They insisted in convincing my son to attend their school, they stated that Auguste Escoffier was the 2nd most important school in the United States, my son was delighted with the idea, then they advised him to convince us to sign up for the housing and student Loan, and what they explained to him over the phone was the opposite of what the agreement states!!, I can't still believe how this unprofessional people play with the fillings of the students, and create a lot of problems among the family members, when I investigated the best culinary art schools in Google, Escoffier does not even appear in the most important culinary arts schools in the United States at all, oh my God, lie, after lie..... Get away while you can!!!
So after reading all the reviews I found this and I must say I'm even more excited to start school
Best place to learn a lot and having a great experience friendly and veryaweaome people
The school staff and instructors make this school a very good learning environment. They tell you up front that you need to come with a serious commitment because it can be challenging. My time spent here was very informative and a great learning experience. I wish the director's had put their foot down more with 'problem students'.The staff are always willing to take time to help you solve any problems, answer any questions, and overall assist you with yoyr education.
Is not what it seems in the review photos and when I was there I wasn't getting the help I needed I was ignored and now that I quit the school I have to pay 1800 dollars for a education I didn't get more like I was being charged to taste test and I only been there just a month now with a debut that's hard to pay off.I REALLY REGRET GOING HERE.
The Escoffier School uses illegal and sketchy advertising practices. If you don't like getting spam phone calls and text messages, I recommend avoiding them. Let's not encourage businesses that ignore the do not call registry.Response to the "response from owner"You can be sure to remove me when you start following the laws of the National do not call registry. My number is one of the millions on that list. Until then, every time I get a message from the school, I'll leave another review somewhere. Please FOLLOW THE LAW!
The school was ok at first, I am doing online course and the instructors are very good online. However there is one thing that just makes me feel like I need to go to another school. I am currently in the process of moving and was really counting on the stipend to help my family out. However, I was never told that I will not be receiving my stipend because this school keeps all of it!!!!! And had the audacity to offer me a loan of $700 over 12 payout which is $20 bi-weekly. I’m sorry I don’t want more debt. I am. Not required to pay this loan back until after I graduate. I have no outstanding fines or fees, I had my fees waved because I am an Army veteran. You should not be able to keep all of my pell grant. That’s for me to decide where it goes for school related issues, and I’m pretty a house is needed to do my online classes.
Loved the orientation, it had a ton of the chefs there and a couple students as well. I learned about who Auguste Escoffier was and what he did for the industry. Then, we were given our uniforms and were told when to come in for the first day of class. Six months later and I have to say, I KNOW I made the right choice in coming here. I've learned more in six month that 23 years of cooking on my own. I can't wait to see what the next six months bring!
Although this school has some growing pains, overall my experience has been positive! Chefs are really dedicated to their craft and if you treat this as an apprenticeship you will do well.
Awesome school couldn't ask for anything better
This is, unfortunately, a non-accredited institution.
Low end equipment, many youtube videos in place of actual demos and practic. School also looks like it is falling apart and is dirty. Farm to table is debatable... Yesterday my substitute chef said he wouldn't eat the romaine lettuce in my dish because he doesn't trust the schools purchasing...
